Odisha revamps its anti-Maoist operation team

Inspector General of Police incharge of intelligence and operation Y B Khurania has been shifted and he swapped place with IG (Training) Arun Kumar Sarangi, official sources said.

The previous team led by Khurania has also been transferred and posted in policing activities other than anti-Maoist operation. IG of intelligence Arun Kumar Roy has been assigned the responsibility of central range and DIG (SIW) Sanjeev Kumar Panda was given the post of DIG at the police headquarters.

Sarangi's team comprised officers like former SP of Naxal-hit districts of Malkangiri and Jajpur D S Kutte, posted as DIG (State Intelligence Wing), present DIG, south-western range S K Priyadarshi as DIG (operation) and former Malkangiri SP, D D Singh as the DIG (in-charge) south western range.

 

"The new team comprising Sarangi, Kutte, Priyadarshi and Singh have already proved their worth in the anti-Maoist operations. Therefore, the present lot is expected to deliver the goods," said a senior official of the home department.

Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack B K Sharma has been posted in his previous post as the chief of the CID, Crime Branch.

IG (Law and Order) Sunil Kumar Roy has been posted as the new Commissioner of Police in place of Sharma.

The Chief of CID, Crime Branch, Abhay, an officer in the rank of the Additional Director General (ADG), has been given responsibility of law and order.

The most lucrative post in the State Police after the DGP, the Director of Vigilance, has gone to S Panwar, a 1987 batch IPS officer.

IG Gopabandhu Mallick has been promoted to the post of ADG and allowed to continue in his present posting as chief of the Odisha Human Rights Cell. PTI AAM SKN NIK PAL
