Odisha's good show in IAP implementation

This has come to light over a video conferencing held recently by Chief Secretary B K Patnaik with Collectors and Superintendents of Police of 18 Maoist prone districts of the state, official sources said today.

The state's performance was impressive particularly in the last quarter of 2011-12. A central review showed that utilisation made by earlier 15 districts have been around 70 per cent which is higher than many other states.

Discussions over the conference reveal that 15 districts of the state have been receiving funds at the rate of Rs 55 Crore each for which Centre has sanctioned a total of Rs 825 Crore during 2010-11 and 2011-12.

 

Three new districts namely Jajpur, Ganjam and Nayagarh have been brought under the orbit of IAP during last financial year. A sum of Rs 30 crore each with a total of Rs.90 Crore has been sanctioned for these districts during 2011-12.

The review further showed that a total of 16,774 projects have been taken up in IAP out of which 6.618 are connectivity projects, 3201 are building projects, 1032 are irrigation projects, 3,766 are drinking water projects, 1691 are electrification projects and 466 are projects meant for various critical needs of communities, sources said.

The work in 90 per cent of the projects (15,060 nos) has been taken up in full swing and 65 per cent of the projects(9756 nos) have been completed.

A total of 540 schools, 180 ST/SC hostels, 1850 AWCs, 107 Primary Health Centers and 524 other buildings, 4223 roads, 1469 culverts, 289 bridges, 155 cause-ways, 2,677 tube wells, 915 pipe water supply schemes, 764 conventional & 927 non-conventional electrification projects, 628 irrigation and 404 other public infrastructure projects have been created under the scheme, they said.
