Odisha sets up three more cyber police stations

Odisha government today declared establishment of three new Cyber Crime Police Stations at Berhampur, Sambalpur and Rourkela.

A notification issued by the Home department said that the cyber crime police station at Berhampur will have 10 police limits and Sambalpur will have nine while police stations in four districts will come under the purview of the Rourkela cyber crime police station.

The Cyber Crime Police Station at Berhampur will have jurisdiction comprising police stations in Ganjam, Berhampur, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Rayagada.

Similarly, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Angul, Deogarh, Dhenkanal and Boudh police stations areas will come under the Sambalpur cyber crime police limit.
 

The four police limits which will be under the purview of Rourkela cyber crime police limits are Sundargarh, Rourkela, Keonjhar and SRP, Rourkela.

Earlier, the state already has a cyber police station in Cuttack. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had approved the creation of three new Cyber Police Stations in May this year.

The state felt requirement of three more cyber police stations in wake of the growing cyber crimes.
