Under the Odisha VAT Act, 2004 AFT like other petroleum products is taxed at a relatively high rate of tax of 20 per cent given their adverse impact on environment. The AVGAS is subjected to levy of tax at the rate of 13.5 per cent. Presently, the state gets an annual revenue of Rs 27 crore from AFT, the chief secretary said.
The state government also expected that reduction in the VAT on the ATF and AVGAS would help boost the prospect of the tourism industry in the state, he said.
