Odisha to assess damage caused by Cyclone Nilam

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reviewed the situation as rain continued to affect normal life in Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda, Cuttack and Puri districts.

"The five district collectors will soon submit the report on damage to paddy and other crops," Revenue Minister S N Patro said.

Ganjam and Gajapati in southern parts of the state have been identified as the worst hit districts, Patro said adding that officials have been directed to start field visit to help farmers whose crops have been damaged in the rain.

While breaches occurred in embankments, roads and houses and minor irrigation points (MIPs) have been severely damaged.
