Off-beat films rule the roost at Colors Screen Awards

Irrfan Khan, who played a national steeplechase champion-turned-bandit Paan Singh in the biopic of the same name, shared the best actor award with Ranbir Kapoor who played deaf and mute Murphy in 'Barfi!'.

Vidya Balan won the best actress award for 'Kahani'.

While the best film award went to 'Paan Singh Tomar', Anurag Basu won best director award for 'Barfi'. Best story award was given to Sujoy Ghosh and Advaita Kala for 'Kahani'.

The supporting role awards were given to Nawazuddin Siddiqui for his stellar performance in 'Talaash' and Dolly Ahuluwalia ('Vicky Donor'). The most promising newcomer award was given to Ayushmann Khurana ('Vicky Donor') and Illena D'Cruz ('Barfi').

 

Gauri Shinde won the award for best promising debutante director for ('English Vinglish').

Director Tigmanshu Dhulia bagged the award for best actor in a negative role for 'Gangs of Wasseypur'. And Abhishek Bachchan and Annu Kapoor shared the best actor in a comic role award for 'Bol Bachchan' and 'Vicky Donor'.

Javed Ali won best playback singer, male, award for 'Ishaqzaade' and Shalmali Kholgade as best female playback for the same film. Pritam won best music director award for 'Barfi!' and Javed Akhtar for lyrics of 'Talaash'.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan received a special 'Legend of Indian Cinema Award', while Yash Chopra, who passed away last year, was the winner of the lifetime achievement award. The Ramnath Goenka award went to 'Gangs of Wasseypur'.

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif won the best actor and best actress award in the popular category.

The event was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar and Ayushmann Khurrana.
