The Kerala Government has permitted Mahatma Gandhi University to facilitate continuation of studies of enrolled students in their second and third years of study, following the closing down of 132 off campus centers under the varsity.
This move will facilitate 12,787 students under the off campus mode in their second and third years to continue their programmes, besides enabling 4055 students to complete their programmes after appearing for the practical and viva voice, a university press release said.
The University had issued orders to close down the off campus centres in three stages following directions from the Chancellor, High Court and State Government.

Following this, the varsity had approached the government to facilitate the continuation of the studies of the students already enrolled.
Vice Chancellor Dr Babu Sebastian convened a meeting to discuss the implementation aspects of the Government directions today.
Based on the government's directions, the meeting decided to convene University recognized Coordinators of the off campus centres on July 22 to activate the academic process for the off campus students.
The course materials for the students as well as the mark lists will be distributed through the coordinators. The practical and viva voce examinations will be conducted by the University with the support of the coordinators.
The students in the second and third years can log into the off campus portal from July 23 for remittance of fees. Registration process for the next academic year will commence on August 1 onwards for which separate notification will be issued by the University.
