Officer suspended for dereliction of duties in Rajouri

An official of the Legal Metrology department in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir was suspended by Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public distribution (CAPD) for dereliction of duty.

"Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public distribution (CAPD) Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali during a surprise visits to the food store at Balli, Kalakote in Rajouri district yesterday directed to suspend the Area Inspector of the Legal Metrology Department for dereliction in duty," an official spokesperson said today.

"He also sought explanation from the department officials for delay in supply of ration on the occasion of Eid," he said.

The minister impressed upon them to ensure transparency in the process of disbursement of ration besides issuing instructions for thorough checking for pilferage and maintaining proper records at every store, the spokesperson said.
 

Zulfkar Ali also paid surprise visit to various food stores and sale depots in Kalakote area of the district and interacted with officers of his department and the public to appraise the functioning of the department in the area.

He also instructed CAPD officials to ensure installation of complaint boxes and directed them to put up display boards and proper rate lists at the stores.
