Official arrested for taking bribe to issue caste certificate

A revenue officer was caught while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1.50 lakh to issue caste certificates in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra, police said Friday.

Prakash Dhangar, posted as Naaib Tehsildar at a Sub Divisional Office at Faizpur, was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Thursday.

Dhangar had allegedly demanded Rs 1.80 lakh to issue caste certificates for the three children of the complainant.

Later he allegedly settled for Rs 1.50 lakh. After the complainant approached the ACB, a trap was laid and Dhangar was caught red-handed while allegedly taking the money at his office.
