A high-ranking official of the Delhi government's power department has asked the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) to consider charging domestic rates for lawyer chambers in courts.
In a letter written to the DERC Secretary, the power department deputy secretary has requested the power tariff fixing body to consider "lawyers' demand" for being charged at domestic rates on consumption of electricity at their chambers in Tis Hazari and other courts of Delhi jurisdiction.
The lawyers had given a representation to the power minister with regard to this demand, said the official.
