Official caught red handed while taking bribe

A government official was today arrested after he was allegedly caught red handed while accepting bribe in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, state vigilance organisation officials said.

Nazir Ahmad Bhat, working as junior assistant in Power Development Corporation in Sopore division, was trapped by the sleuths of the SVO on a complaint by Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, they said.

They said, Lone, a resident of Uri, had lodged a complaint alleging that the official was demanding Rs 2,000 as bribe for processing his pay arrears.

On the basis of the complaint, SVO registered a case and a trap was laid, they said.
 

The accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the first instalment of Rs 1,000, they said adding further investigations are on.
