The official website of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar was hacked allegedly by a Pakistani group which posted messages in support of freedom for Kashmir.

The hackers managed to access the official website of NIT yesterday and posted messages advocating freedom for Kashmir.

The website was immediately taken off for repairs and finally restored this evening.

Though the identity of the hackers remained unknown, the messages posted on the website claimed to be by members of "SH 11 Team Pak Cyber Skullz".

"Do you know why you got hacked? Free Kashmir...Freedom is our goal...," the hackers posted on the website citing Indian Penal Code Act No:45 of 1860 which reads "India means the territory of India excluding the state of Jammu and Kashmir".
