The University of Colorado and a Tibetan association say the Dalai Lama has canceled US appearances next month following a checkup at Minnesota's Mayo Clinic.
The school and the Tibetan Association of Colorado say the Office of Tibet in Washington, D.C., announced the cancellations Friday. He had been scheduled to appear there Oct. 20.
Officials said the office of Tibet, which represents the Dalai Lama in North America, said doctors advised the 80-year-old holy leader to rest and that he would return to India.
