Press Trust of India Dharmapuri
: A team of officials today started monitoring water flow in Cauvery river at Center Water Guage (CWG) in Billigundalu, 62 km from here, where the river enters the Tamil Nadu forests, officials said.

This follows continuous downpour in catchment areas of Karnataka forests, leading to heavy flow into Kabini and Krinshna Raj Sagar water reservoirs in that state in the past few days, they said.

As per the measurement at the CWG station at Billigundalu, 4,000 cusecs was recorded at 10.30 AM today, which increased to 5,000 cusecs by 6.30 PM.

Following the increase inflow in Cauvery, the water level in Mettur reservoir has risen, they said, adding that though flow into Hogenakkal River has been on the rise, there was no flood alert situation.
