Officials reviews works fr centre of excellence for cut flower

Consul General for Israel Menahem Kanafi and Daniel Werner, Agricultural Counsellor of Israel, today reviewed the works for centre of excellence for cut flowers established in the district.

The project supported by the National Horticulture Mission is formed under Indo-Israel agriculture cooperation agreement-2008 on 55 acres of land at Kottur village at a cost of Rs 8.8 cr.

The objective of the centre is to demonstrate Israeli agriculture technology and know-how to local farmers on protected cultivation practises which allows growing of crops beyond seasonal barrier through efficient use of water and by controlling temperatures in green houses.

Kanafi told PTI that "the idea of this step will increase productivity through efficient use of water and other resources for agricultural activity to become less expensive".
 

Such centre would be set up in Dindigul for vegetables and another in Hosur for cut flowers", he said.
