Officials seize 460.5 kgs of Alprazolam worth Rs 4.60 crore

The Telangana prohibition and excise officials today seized 460.5 kgs of Alprazolam worth Rs 4.60 crore after raiding two premises here, a senior official said.

One person identified as Siddharth Reddy has been arrested in connection with the seizure and hunt is on to nab other absconding accused including prime accused C P Reddy, Deputy Commissioner (Prohibition and Excise) of Ranga Reddy Yaseen Qureshi said.

Alprazolam is a psychotropic substance notified under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the accused through this racket were involved in the sale of Alprazolam illegally, the official said.

"We raided two sites of storage of Alphrazolam and seized 460.5 kgs of the narcotic drug worth Rs 4.60 crore. They did not have any license.
 

"Further arrests are to be made which will enable us to know where this narcotic drug was manufactured," Qureshi said.

Two cases were booked under NDPS Act, he said.
