The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) expressing displeasure over non-compliance of its earlier orders to furnish the present status of night-shelters in various urban local bodies, it has asked the state government to comply with the order before the next hearing.

Over a petition filed in this regard by Orissa High Court advocate Nishikant Mishra, OHRC Acting Chairman Justice (Retd)B K Mishra recently asked the Director of Housing and Urban Development department to give details of the night-shelters and posted the matter to be heard again on April 25.

Mishra said he had filed the petition in September 2013 and in October same year, the Commission had issued the notice to the state government asking it to submit a report on its schemes for the homeless, who are spending the nights under flyover bridges, on footpaths and at railway stations.
