Oil mill owner arrested for murder of his employee

An owner of an oil mill here was today arrested by city crime branch sleuths from Jaipur in connection with the murder of the branch manager of his firm, police said.

Sameer Shah, who runs Rajmoti Oil Mill in Rajkot and is also the president of Saurashtra Oil Millers Association (SOMA) and Rajkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), was absconding since last two and half months after his name surfaced in the murder of Dinesh Daxini, the branch manager of his firm in Ahmedabad, police said.

"We had formed a special police team to track down Shah, who was absconding following the murder. We rushed the team to Jaipur after learning that he was staying at a hotel there and placed him under arrest," Joint Commissioner of Police D S Bhatt said.
 

According to the police, Daxini was allegedly kidnapped from Ahmedabad by persons deployed by Shah and brought to Rajkot, where he was beaten up on the charge that he had committed financial fraud in Shah's firm. He was then taken to Bedipara police station by them to make him confess to committing his crime before the police.

Daxini's health deteriorated upon which he was taken to a government hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on March 2, Bhatt said.

Shah's Rajkot branch manager Sameer Gandhi, assistant sub- inspector of Bedipara police station Yogesh Bhatt and another person, Kripasinh Rana were also named in the FIR, of whom Gandhi has been arrested, while Bhatt and Rana are absconding.

Further investigation is on, police said.
