A loaded private oil tanker caught fire on NH31 at Hasimara in West Bengal and the flames were doused by seven engines after about six hours.
Police said there was no casualty in the incident and the reason for the blaze was yet to be known.
As a result of the fire all assam and north Bengal-bound trucks and vehicles on the NH31 stetched were stopped and the area was cordoned off. Electric connection in the area was switched off to avert any mishap.
The tanker was on way to Kolkata from Assam, police added.
