Old age pension hiked in J&K

Old pensioners and family pensioners in Jammu and Kashmir, aged 80 years and above, will now get additional pension ranging from 20 per cent to 100 per cent, depending on their age.

This decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti here today.

The decision was taken to mitigate the financial difficulties of such beneficiaries, Education Minister Naeem Akhtar told reporters.

Additional Pension will be extended to the old pensioners, family Pensioners on attaining the age of 80, 85, 90, 95 and 100 years and shall be payable from the 1st of the month in which the pensioner attains the prescribed age, he said.
 

This additional Pension shall be paid after the pensioner completes the age of 80 years, 85 years etc.

Dearness relief shall also be payable on the additional pension, he added.

The additional quantum of pension in relation of the basic Pension is as follows -- 20 per cent hike of basic pension to pensioners in age group of 80 Years to less than 85 years,followd by 30 per cent hike from 85 Years to less than 90 Years, 40 per cent hike of basic pension from 90 years to less than 95 years, 50 per cent hike of basic pension from 95 years to less than 100 years, 100 per cent hike of basic pension in age group of 100 years or more, he said.
