Union minister Beni Prasad Verma today accused Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav of indulging in vote bank politics by "pitting Hindus and Muslims against each other".

"My old friend is not able to run the government in the state properly but is dreaming of making it big," Verma said at a function here after laying foundation of a steel processing unit here.

"Mulayam is playing vote-bank politics by pitting Hindus and Muslims against each other," Verma said adding that the ruling party is looting the state exchequer and in the coming Lok Sabha polls its nominees would lose their deposits.

Verma said that on one hand Congress is a party which has given the reins as prime minister to a person who is highly educated while on the other hand BJP is projecting a person who is faced with the charges of inciting communal frenzy as its prime ministerial candidate.
