Old man killed by herd of wild elephants

A 60-year-old tribal was killed on the spot after he was attacked here by a herd of wild elephants today, forest department officials said.

Thagan Rana was keeping a watch over wheat crop in his field in Bajahi village atop a 'machan' on a tree, when the elephants entered into his field and started damaging the crop.

He raised an alarm to drive away the elephants, however, his action irritated them an they attacked the 'machan' and pulled the farmer down, who died on the spot.
