Old notes worth Rs 65,000 recovered from drain in Ambala

Demonetised currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 worth Rs 65,000 were found from a drain in Ambala City today, police said.

A team of Ambala Municipal Corporation was cleaning the drain located on INCO chowk in the morning when they noticed that the cash kept in a plastic bag was lying there.

They took it out found that old notes of Rs 500 and 1000 were packed in it, they said.

The workers then informed the Model Town police post, following which they took the bag in their possession.

Police said that it could not be ascertained who had thrown the money in the drain and a case has been registered and investigation is underway.
