A decision to appoint gold medal winning Olympians, hailing from Haryana, to Group 'A' post in the departments of Home, Sports and Youth Affairs, School Education and Development and Panchayats, has been taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today.
It was also decided that the silver and bronze medallists in Olympics, and gold medal winners in Asian and Commonwealth Games will be considered for appointment to Group 'B' post in these departments.
Participants of Olympics Games, silver and bronze medal winners of Asian and Commonwealth Games and medal winners of World Championships and Asian Championships organised by recognised Sports Associations, on the basis of level and importance of competition or tournament, will be considered for appointment to Group 'C' post in these departments, an official spokesman said.

Only sports achievements of the players after March 5, 2005 will be considered, he said, adding that eligible sportspersons will include winners of Paralympics Games at the corresponding international level. These jobs would be provided to the sportspersons of Haryana.
Medal winners, who are appointed under this category in different departments, will be encouraged to continue playing and achieving high goals in their respective sports for at least five years and during this period their performance assessment will be linked to their sports achievements, the official added.
