Oman's Foreign Affairs Minister to pay 2-day visit to India

Oman's Minister for Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah will pay a two-day visit to India, during which the two sides are expected to discuss bilateral and regional issues.

Abdullah will arrive in Delhi on April 2 at the invitation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

"During the forthcoming visit, the two sides would discuss bilateral, regional and other issues of mutual interest," a statement issued by the MEA said.

The Omani minister had earlier visited India in February and June 2014 while Swaraj paid a return visit to the Gulf nation in February 2015.

India's relations with Oman are based on historical people to people contacts and are marked by regular exchange of high-level bilateral visits. The country has over 6.88 lakh strong Indian community.
 

It is an important trading partner of India in the Gulf region with bilateral trade exceeding USD 3.86 billion in 2015-16.
