Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today hit out at Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) saying the opposition party leadership galvanised its politics by "deception and falsehood".

"They (PDP) forgot all issues when in power while we strived for political addressing of political issues and pushing forward development on fast track," Omar told a public gathering in Wacchi area of Shopian district.

Wacchi assembly constituency is represented by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti.

Omar described the demand of PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for 40 assembly seats to resolve Kashmir issue as a "mere trick" to grab public attention.

"The PDP patron never talked about resolving Kashmir issue when he was Home Minister of the country and Chief Minister of the state," Omar said.

He reminded the people of the speech made by Sayeed in Ganderbal asking gun-wielding youth to drop guns as he would represent them. "What happened then," Omar questioned.

In Sayeed's tenure, the process of dialogue initiated in the government of Farooq Abdullah between militant commanders and the government was totally sabotaged as also the return of youth from across Line of Control under Rehabilitation Plan blocked, he said.

"It is easy to raise slogans like Healing Touch but to act practically in this direction is something different which is unknown to PDP leadership who only know to flare up sentiments and exploit people by deception and false promises," he said.

He drew the attention of people towards ignoring Watchi constituency by its representative (Mehbooba Mufti) in the Legislative Assembly.

"When they (PDP leadership) have made remaining absent from Assembly proceedings their habit, how can they attend to the public issues and get these solved?" he asked.

Omar asked the people to give PDP a befitting answer by ensuring permanent eviction of its MLAs from the Assembly in 2014. "They (PDP MLAs) love to remain absent from the Assembly so they should be kept away from it permanently," he added.

The Chief Minister said that during the last fiscal, Rs 260 crore had been provided to Shopian district for development works while equal amount has been earmarked for the current financial year.
