Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today called the ruling PDP as the "only beneficiary" of last year's floods, saying he was not surprised that they would be "celebrating" the first anniversary of the disaster.

"The @jkpdp is going to celebrate the anniversary of the horrific floods. As the only beneficiary of the floods of course they will," Omar wrote on micro blogging site Twitter.

His reaction comes after the state government's decision to observe September 7, the day when floods hit Kashmir valley including the summer capital Srinagar last year, as 'Revival Day'.

Omar, the working president of opposition National Conference (NC), said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had "shamelessly exploited" the flood victims' misery to their benefit in the assembly elections, particularly in and around Srinagar.

"Then Mufti (Mohammad Sayeed, now Chief Minister) used the flood relief package as his main reason for tying up with @BJP4India but forgot all about this after coming to power," he said.

The former chief minister mocked at the government's decision saying that while the PDP has a cause to celebrate, there was anger everywhere.

"So I'm not at all surprised that the @jkpdp is celebrating 7th sept (September) while everyone else is seething with anger, they have cause to celebrate," Omar said.

He said the NC would organise a blood donation camp to mark the anniversary.

"To mark the 1st anniversary of the terrible floods of 2014 @JKNC_ will organise a blood donation camp. I appeal to my colleagues to donate," Omar tweeted.
