Omar directs for special package for transporters

The issue of helping the transporters purchase new vehicles and obtain finance from the J and K Bank should be chipped in the package to be formulated in this regard, Omar said at a meeting with the transporters here.

"A holistic view is required to be taken to address the issue," he said adding that the help to rehabilitate the transporters should be considered actively.

He said that government wants to give a fillip to the economic activities in different sectors and facilitate growth and development.

"Transport is an important economic activity linked with passenger service, goods transshipment and tourism," he said.

 

The transporters who have suffered on account of condemnation of vehicles require focus to help them reinstate their livelihood generating activity, he added.

Minister for Transport Qamar Ali Akhoon and senior officials from Transport Department and traffic department were present at the meeting.
