Omar inaugurates grid station in Jammu

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated a power grid station at Jourian in Akhnoor belt of Jammu district.

Omar described the commissioning of the 20 MVA 132/33 KV grid station yet another milestone in upgrading and improving the system of transmission and distribution of electricity in the state.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief minister Tara Chand, minister for PHE Sham Lal Sharma and minister of state for Power Viqar Rasool.

The grid station and the 29 km-long transmission line on double circuit towers have involved an expenditure of over Rs 22.71 crore, officials said.
 

It will help meet the growing demand of electricity and upgrade the quality of power supply in the border areas of Akhnoor, Jourian, Kaleeth, Jogma, Planhwallah, Sohal, Bulli Gulaba and other areas, they added.
