Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today visited the residence of former Minister Mohammad Akbar Ganai, who died here last evening, and expressed sympathy with the family members of the deceased.
Omar, who is also working president of National Conference, along with several party leaders visited the bereaved family at Dooru in south Kashmir Anantnag district.
"Omar stayed with the bereaved family, consoled it, expressed his solidarity and sympathy and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul," a spokesman of the National Conference said.

Omar was accompanied by NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, Panchayati Raj minister Ali Mohammad Sagar and Minister of State for Information Technology Feroze Ahmad Khan.
The Chief Minister highlighted the contributions of Ganai for strengthening the National Conference and his attempt to uplift of the people particularly belonging to poorer sections of the society.
"In the demise of Mohammad Akbar Ganai, people have lost a great friend but the National Conference has been deprived of a stalwart and senior leader," Omar said.
