One person alleged to be an NDFB(S) cadre was arrested at the city outskirts by security forces today, official sources said.
The cadre, identified as Saitom Rabha, suspected to have visited the city to carry out a kidnapping plot and was staying in a hotel in the Panbazar area here for the last two weeks, they said, adding, that he managed to escape in a vehicle towards Jagiroad in neighbouring Morigaon district.
All security checkposts were alerted and finally he was nabbed near Khetri area.
One 9 mm pistol with three rounds of live cartridge, a mobile phone along with a SIM card, some cash, a driving licence and a car were seized from him, they added.
Police have initiated an investigation into the matter, the sources said.
