A person was today arrested by the CID for in connection with an illegal installation to route voice over internet protocol (VoIP) calls to domestic telecom posing security threat and revenue loss to the government
According to a senior official of West Bengal CID, Ratan Shaw was arrested during a joint raid conducted by CID and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) from his Rishra residence in Hooghly district today.
"He had illegally installed to route international VoIP calls to domestic telecom network bypassing international gateways posing security threat and also causing revenue loss to the government," the officer said.

Shaw has been booked under different sections of the IPC as well as the IT Act and Sections of the Indian Telegraph Act, the CID official added.
