Nearly five days after the murder of a 47-year-old plumber, police have arrested an accused and said an old enmity led to the killing.

The accused, Sandeep Anna Durai Periyaar (30), was nabbed yesterday, said a senior officer from Malad Police Station today.

The reason behind the killing of the plumber, Jayram Nadar, was previous enmity between the duo, he added.

The 30-year-old accused was today produced in a local Court, which remanded him in police custody till June 28.

According to the police, last week Nadar had come near Orlem Church for some work. When Nadar was walking towards his bike, four unidentified goons repeatedly stabbed him.

The assailants then attacked Nadar with choppers and sickles. Nadar was rushed to Shatabdi Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The deceased resided with his wife and son near Marve Road in Malad. In the past, Nadar had been arrested for his alleged role in a murder case, said police.
