One arrested for stealing luggage in Kanpur railway station

Government Railway Police today arrested the leader of a gang involved in several cases of luggage theft at Kanpur railway station.

Mobile phones and Rs 10,800 in cash were recovered from his possession.

GRP SHO Vripurari Pandey said a man was spotted roaming suspiciously at platform number nine and upon questioning, he tried to escape but was apprehended, however, his accomplices managed to flee.

He has been identified as Jitu, a resident of Firozabad district, he said adding several other stolen items were also recovered from his possesion.

During interrogation, he revealed that his gang used to target trains running between Kanpur, Tundla, Ettawa and Firozabad stations, Pandey said.
 

A case has been registered and a hunt is on to nab other gang members.
