One person was arrested today for possessing a country made gun, being used for hunting deer at Karamadai in the district, police said.
On information about availability of venison in the area, forest department officials carried out search at Adhimadhayyanur, about 45 KM from here and found three persons moving in a suspicious manner, police said.
On interrogation it was revealed that they--Venkataraman, Sureskumar and Prabhu-- were involved in deer hunting and supplying meat to the villages, they said.
The department imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 each.
Police said they found that Venkataraman was possessing a country made gun, which was later recovered from his home.He was then handed over to the Karamadai police, who in turn produced him before a Court and remanded to judicial custody.
