Body of one of the 16 TPC ultras killed by the Maoists in Jharkhand's Palamau district was recovered while five dead ultras, including the recovered body were identified, police said today.

One body was recovered yesterday while all others had been cremated by their associates, who carried them away immediately after the gun battle, Latehar Superintendent of Police Michael S Raj, also officiating SP of Palamau, said.

The body, identified as of Moin Khan, was sent for post mortem. He hailed from Tugun village in neighbouring Chatra district.

"You can put it sixteen," said Raj, who on Saturday last had said 15 or 16 TPC ultras had been killed by the Maoists in the encounter in Palamau's Kouriya village.

Another senior police officer in Palamau range said the four other ultras among the dead were identified as Vijay Paswan (Jhargada/Palamau), Raju Paswan (Pathara/Palamau), Shambhu Singh (Bishrampur/Palamau) and Jitendra Yadav (Chhatarpur/Palamau).

The police were searching for the identities of other dead TPC ultras, he added.

The TPC and the CPI(Maoist) have a running feud and often kill each other. The Police, however, deny reports that it uses TPC to hunt down the Maoists.
