One burnt alive as lorries collide

One person was burned alive and two others injured today after two lorries collided on the bypass road at Thondavada in Chandragiri, 20 km from here, police said.

While one lorry was loaded with steel rod rolls, the other vehicle was carrying soda water bottles.

Under the impact of the collision, a fire broke out after the diesel tanks of the lorries exploded, resulting in the death of the driver of the steel laden lorry that overturned.

It was gutted, police said.

The driver and cleaner of the other lorry jumped out and escaped with injuries. They were admitted to the government hospital here where their condition is stated to be out of danger, police said.
 

The steel laden lorry was proceeding to Bengaluru from Gannavaram in Andhra Pradesh and the other vehicle was on its way to Mangalagiri in AP from Bengaluru, police said.
