One dead, 10 injured as bus overturns in Kota

A person was killed while ten others were injured after a bus they were travelling in hit a truck and turned turtle on the Kota-Jaipur national highway today, police said.

The private bus, carrying wedding guests from Deveriya village in Ajmer district to Sagar in Madhya Pradesh, crashed into the truck from behind near Lamba Pipal village under Talera police station in Bundi district, police said.

Sanwar Lal (50), a resident of Deveriya village was killed in the mishap that took place at around 2.45 am, SHO of Talera police station Prushottam Maheriya said.

The body of the deceased was handed over to the family members after postmortem while the injured were rushed to Maharao Bhim Singh (MBS) hospital in Kota, he said.

 

Eight of them were discharged after primary medical treatment while two others with critical injuries were undergoing treatment, he further said.

According to police, the mishap occurred when the truck driver was reversing the heavy vehicle after having tea from a roadside Dhaba, he added.

Police have lodged a case of negligent driving against the truck driver, who fled from the spot, and have seized his truck, the SHO said.
