One dead and four swim back to safety after boat capsizes

One fisherman died, while four others swam back to safety after a country boat in which they were sailing in the Bay of Bengal, capsized near the Bheemili area in the city here today, sources said.

A five-member team of fishermen had gone fishing at around 3 am. At around 4.30 am, their boat capsized and S Ramana (65) died while being shifted to a hospital, the police said.

The four other fishermen managed to swim back to the shore and also helped Ramana swim back.

However, Ramana, who had gulped salt water, died due to exhaustion.

The police has registered a case and the body has been shifted to the KG hospital in the city for a post mortem.
