The incident occurred near Jamrud bypass in Khyber Agency, some 10 km west of Peshawar.

The attack took place when a convoy of seven oil tankers was on its way to Afghanistan.

Trucks travelling through Pakistan to supply US-led forces in Afghanistan have frequently been attacked and looted.

International troops are winding down their operations in the war-torn country and are expected to pull out from Afghanistan by this year end.
