One dead, few injured as car rams into cars, bikes

One person was killed and a few others were injured as a car rammed into some cars and motorcycles near Jayanagar here today before crashing into a thatched (kachcha) house, police said.

The car, driven by a doctor in his late fifties, first rammed into four motorcycles near Ashoka Pillar before colliding with two cars and two two-wheelers near Byrasandra Circle in Jayanagar area.

The car finally came to a stop after ramming into a 'katchcha' house nearby, destroying it, police said.

One person, identified as Rizwan, a two-wheeler rider died on the spot near Byrasandra Circle, while his wife sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
 

Locals say inmates of the house were out of town when the accident occurred.

Locals, who caught hold of the driver, handed him over to police. They told police that the man was accompanied by a woman and two children in the car.

Police, who have arrested the driver of the car, said, he has been sent for a medical test.

CCTV footage of the incident that is being telecast by local channels shows a speeding car ramming into a motorcycle and two cars before proceeding further.
