One held for asking for ransom from school headmaster

One person was today arrested on charge of demanding ransom for an ultra outfit from the headmaster of a government high school at Churhu in Lohardaga district, police said.

Firoz Ansari alias Islam Ansari was arrested for allegedly demanding Rs five lakh from the headmaster of Churhu Government High School, Lohardaga Superintendent of Police Karthik S said.

He told newsmen that according to the police probe Ansari was demanding the ransom for alleged naxalite Dinesh Gope.

Ansari had called the headmaster from his mobile phone and demanded the amount for Gope, he said adding a core team was formed after police came to know about the ransom demand.
 

Based on information, Ansari was arrested from Sukumar Nagra Toli under Kuju police station area and sent to jail, he said.

Two mobile phones were seized from his possession, Karthik added.
