One held for betting in current India-England test series

A businessman was arrested here today for allegedly accepting betting from punters for the ongoing fourth Test Cricket Match between India and England, and Rs 92,000 cash and other material used in betting was seized from him, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, sleuths of Commissioner's Task Force (Central Zone) team raided an apartment and nabbed Sikender Bhai N Charania in Abids area of the city, who was accepting cricket betting over cell phones from punters, they said.

Sikender, who hails from Gujarat, suffered losses in his business in the past and to cover the loss, he hatched a plan and involved in cricket betting from 2011 and made easy money, Task Force Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police N Koti Reddy said, adding, to execute his plans, he is in contact with a person named Bunty, who is based in Delhi.
 

Police seized 8 mobile phones, one laptop, one TV, besides Rs 92,000 in cash from the accused.
