One held for celebratory firing during a wedding

A man has been arrested for celebratory firing under the influence of alcohol during a wedding in north west Delhi, police said today.

Two licensed weapons and live cartridges have been recovered from him, they added.

Police received a call of celebratory firing at a marriage function organized in the banquet near GTK road industrial area. When the police reached there they found three men under the influence of alcohol dancing outside the banquet.

The trio was detained and searched by the police. One of the three persons, Rohit Dahiya carried a double barrel gun and a revolver.

Police also recovered Seven .12 bore cartridges from him, said Vijay Singh DCP (north west).
 

Both the arms he was carrying were registered and the gun license was in the name of Dahiya's cousin while he owned the license of the revolver for Haryana only.

Police found three used cartridges from the spot and a case under relevant IPC sections and Arms Act was registered at Bharat Nagar police station, he added.
