A grocery shop owner has been arrested for allegedly storing around 1,310 kg of fire crackers, without any license, for sale during Dussehra and further in Diwali, police said today.

Based on a tip-off, the police raided a house at northwest Delhi's Adarsh Nagar area yesterday and recovered the bulk of fire crackers and the accused, identified as Ramesh, was arrested under relevant sections of the Explosive Act, said DCP (Northwest) Vijay Singh.

"The bigger concern in the case was that the firecrackers were stored in a house inhabited by 10 persons, including five children, subjecting them to immense risk," said Singh.

Ramesh, who runs a grocery shop in Adarsh Nagar area, had procured the firecrackers from different parts of NCR, he added.
