The city Crime Branch today arrested one person in connection with the murder of a Nepali citizen, police said.

"Ravi Kumar Pandey (19) along with his six friends murdered Girish Khancha on May 28 over previous enmity. He was nabbed from near his home in Amraiwadi area of the city," Crime Branch Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) K P Patel said.

Enmity and rivalry between Pandey and Khancha resulted in this murder, Patel said.

During the interrogation, Pandey told police that all the members of the group follow the instructions of their group leader Pavan Pasi, who was lodged in Sabarmati central jail and was released on May 28.

Pandey, Pasi and other members of the group-- Ravi Katela, Ravi Bachchan, Raju, Yogesh Kaniyo and Deepak Kaliyo planned to eliminate Khancha on the same night, police said.

Khancha, who was attacked with a sword while he was walking alone at night, had died on the spot, they added.

Crime Branch will hand over Pandey to Ramol police, which is probing the case even as manhunt to nab the other suspects have been initiated.

According to police, Pasi has five different cases registered against him, while Ravi Bachchan was earlier arrested in two cases of boot-legging. Rest of the accused had also been booked in various other cases earlier.
