Police have taken one person into custody for allegedly making abusive comments in a video posted on social media against the Andhra Pradesh government over the "failure" in effectively managing the recent floods in river Krishna.

The comments were also purportedly directed against state Water Resources Minister P Anil Kumar Yadav.

Police took K Sekhar Chowdary of Vemuru into custody on Sunday based on a complaint lodged by state Chief Digital Director G Devendra Reddy.

In the video, Chowdary and some others, whom the ruling YSR Congress dubbed "paid artists", is seen posing as farmers and flood victims and purportedly making critical remarks against the government and the minister.

The video was posted on YouTube and other social media platforms following which Reddy complained to the state DGP Gautam Sawang, police said.

On the DGPs instructions, police took Chowdary into custody for questioning, a senior police official said.
