A 52-year-old man who allegedly used to provide Indian passports through forged documents and was declared a proclaimed offender by a court, was arrested from central Delhi's Karol Bagh area, police said today.
The accused, identified as Amrik Singh, allegedly used to arrange Indian passports for his clients for a hefty fee of Rs 5 lakh, said police.
"Singh came to Delhi in 1993 and started helping Afghan refugees to obtain Indian passports on forged identification documents. Later, he also used to arrange VISAs for them," DCP (IGI Airport) DK Gupta said.

"In May 2009, Singh and his associates were arrested by Delhi Police's Special Cell and several passports and incriminating documents were purportedly seized from him," Gupta said.
On January 1, the police received a tip-off that Singh would come to Karol Bagh area to meet his associates and a trap was laid on Tank road accordingly. Singh was nabbed from there, said police.
Amrik Singh was found declared a proclaimed offender in four cases registered at IGI Airport police station here, police added.
