An accused, who was on the run for over an year, has been arrested in connection with a Rs 11 lakh robbery case, police said today.

Sleuths of the crime branch of Thane Police apprehended Ashish Devre (27), a resident of Ambernath on Wednesday, said Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Mukund Hatote.

"On July 16, 2016, Devre and his aid had allegedly attacked a wine shop manager and his associate while they were going to Diva station and decamped with Rs 11 lakh cash," the officer said.

According to Hatote, a case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code was registered against Devre.

He said acting on a tip-off, the crime branch sleuths laid a trap in Ambernath and apprehended Devre on Wednesday.

The officer said Devre was also "wanted" in another case registered under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organise Crime Act (MCOCA).
