One held with fake notes of Rs 1.18 lakh face value

Police today arrested a man and seized counterfeit currency notes with a face value of Rs 1.18 lakh in village near here.

The man, who was riding a two-wheeler, was identified as Danuba Gohil, they said.

The arrest and seizure were made by Amreli Local Crime Branch (LCB) sleuths in Gorakhia Chowkri village.

The arrest comes after two persons, who were held on May 25 from Lathi town near Amreli with fake currency notes of Rs 1.11 crore, told investigating officers that a large amount of fake currency notes were being circulated in the market.

Following the information, seven people were nabbed from separate places in the country in the last few days.
 

"Gohil was nabbed from Gorakhia Chowkri when he was on his way from Badeli on his two-wheeler to hand over the fake notes to some persons in Dhasa village in Amreli district," an LCB official said.

The seized notes were in denomination of Rs 2,000 and had a face value of Rs 1.18 lakh, he said.

With this, a total of eight persons have been arrested and fake currency notes with face value of Rs 13,57,6,500 seized in the last few days in the district.
